Heavy Haul Permit Technician

We are looking for an Oversize/Overweight Permit Technician to join our fast-growing company. The Permit Technician’s main focus is on transportation consultation and ordering Oversize/ Overweight permits for trucking companies and broker businesses in an accurate and timely manner to support their demands. You must be able to relate to a client’s needs and concerns as every client has their own, unique transportation business. This position requires an individual who is able to work in a fast-paced environment with the ability to make sound decisions with little to no supervision. A significant part of this position entails interacting with government entities and truck drivers and/or dispatchers.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with transportation specialists to ensure efficient delivery times;
• Plan routes; Be able to consider the relative costs and benefits of potential routing to suggest the most appropriate one;
• Order Oversize/ Overweight and Superload permits online, by telephone, fax or email for all Canadian Provinces and US States;
• Order Route Surveys;
• Assist customers with the scheduling and dispatching of pilot cars and police escorts;
• Stay informed on the various types of equipment in the industry;
• Stay informed on the various regulations and travel restrictions in Canada and the United States;
• Update website on travel restrictions & holidays;

Requirements

• High School Diploma;
• Excellent communication and client service skills are a must;
• Strong data entry skills necessity;
• Good knowledge and abilities with Excel, Word, and Outlook;
• Ability to work independently;
• Ability to plan and organize workload; flexibility to handle pressure and work with interruptions and meet deadlines; attention to detail;
• Ability to handle multiple priorities;
• Willingness to learn and accept responsibility;
• Ability to have flexible hours as needed;
• English speaking, French an asset but not required

Senior Heavy Haul Permit Technician

We are also looking for an experience person in the field to join our expanding team. They will be responsible for ordering permits for trucking companies, but also to supervise and assist other permit technicians as needed. You will also be required to assist (or possibly on your own) assist project managers with the permitting end of larger projects, either with the logistics, pilot cars, police, utilities, etc.

Responsibilities

• Same responsibilities as a permit technician, plus;
• coordinate with police, utilities, pilot cars;
• supervisor small team of permit technicians;
• assist in resolving issues with customers.

Requirements

• Same requirements as a permit technician, plus;
• Previous experience in transportation, specifically heavy haul;
• At least 1 year experience with ordering O/O permits, preferrably 2 years;
• able to work overtime or flexible hours when needed.
